State senate race between Ryan, Paro still too close to call

One week after Election Day, the 50th state Senate race between Democrat Chris Ryan and Republican Nick Paro is still too close to call.
Election boards in Onondaga and Oswego counties are still counting absentee and affidavit, or emergency ballots.
At the end of the day Tuesday, Ryan had increased his lead over Paro from 548 to 1,489 votes, according to the unofficial tally.
Ryan has 48.93% of the vote. Paro has 48.02%
For now, the race is just out of the range that triggers an automatic recount in New York. That margin is .5%.
At least 2,800 ballots are still left to be counted in Onondaga and Oswego counties, according to Dustin Czarny, the Democratic elections commissioner for Onondaga County.
Czarny expects the majority of outstanding ballots to be counted by the end of the day Friday. There is still time for military ballots to arrive and there is still time for some voters to return absentee ballots that had issues such as a missing signature.
The 50th Senate District covers the towns of Clay, Cicero, Camillus, Manlius, DeWitt, Geddes and Salina in Onondaga County and Fulton and Oswego in Oswego County.
